Yesterday started fall, the next season.  While listening to the radio the day before fall, the announcer said, “This is such a beautiful day to end summer and bring us into spring,”  yes, she said spring, it made me laugh.  She totally messed that one up.

So, it is autumn, it is one of my favorite seasons because of the beautiful colors: orange, pumpkin orange, red, yellow, maroon.  They are all so tasteful to me, especially if you know what my favorite color.  The last three years being at Toccoa Falls College I’ve noticed the difference in our season, who couldn’t?  NY’s season are snow, snow, snow, construction, while here we have basically three season.  Hot, Warm, Cool, and Hot!  Our winters here are more like NY’s cold fall days.  Our leaves are hardly changing, while the leaves in NY are probably already falling off.  Your first flurries will fall soon, we have probably a 10% chance that we’ll even see snow.  What a difference, but it’s not bad.  I don’t mind not seeing and feeling snow.

Although, you can’t get rid of me that easily.  With a little help from my parents because finances are tight and gas prices are high they have helped me find a pretty good plane ticket to come home during Christmas.  I will be home from Dec. 19- 30th.  Seems like a long time but the catch is I do still need to do some work while I’m home.  I don’t get off that easy.  At the turn of the month starting in January is when we start going down the mountain into our crazy summer.  These months now are helping us prep for those crazy months of over 150 mission trips and 5,000+ participants.  AMEN!!!!  I am looking forward to seeing friends and family.

As far as what’s happening now, I decided since this wasn’t the busy season, since gas prices are high, I have bills, and student loans to pay, that I would get a second job, part-time.  The Lord provied a job with the Frances Meadows Aquatic Center.  Right up my ally, I am a lifeguard, swim instructor, the a lifeguard instructor and in a couple weeks I will most likely be a head lifeguard on duty for Saturday’s.  You can check out the place at: http://www.gainesville.org/recreation.asp?contentscreen_id=francesmeadows I am really excited about this opportunitiy because I get to do another thing that I love and that’s be in the water and teach.  My friend and I were looking for part-time jobs preferably as Lifegaurds and we found this place.  Praise the Lord for providing.  I am going to have  about 20 hours a week at this job.  So if you do the math I’m working a quite a long week, but I love it.  Some people say “you’re crazy, when are you going sleep? Or you’re such an overacheiver!”  But I say, I want to be obedient to my Father, He has given me these gifts of serving people, teaching, and loving water, why not take that opportunitiy to show Christ’s love?

So the next season has begun, I ask that you would pray that I can continue to balance two jobs, that I would be able to find a church around here where I feel community, that I can continue to meet expenses, and that my car would work properly.  Also, I’ve just found out that I am going to Kentucky Oct. 14- Oct. 19 to co-lead a mission trip and get trained.  We will be working with mentally and physically handicapped adults at adult day cares as well as some construction work.  I’m really excited!!  It’s jus a few weeks away!

  4. Christy, we’ll enjoy all those “orange” leaves for you and think of our “orange lover” friend. We’ll see if we can find something else for you in that wonderful color for you when you come home. Madeline

  5. Hi Beautiful,
Sure was a lot to read and very interesting. My heart is raceing for all that you are doing and enjoying down there. All those colored leaves you were talking about got covered with that white stuff yesterday. But got dusted off by GG.

You are in the eyes of the Lord and He is good. You are our blessing.

Looking forward to getting all that love and happiness you are so full of.

    Thanks be to God!
