You might be thinking: “did I just read her favorite part of Mexico was headed home?” I want to share a story from my trip back home that was clearly orchestrated by God.

On Saturday, March 21st 10:33am, God used me… His humble and tired servant. While sitting on the plane headed from Harlingen, TX to Houston, TX I thought I lucked out and had both seats to myself. Just then a young gentleman came over and said he was sitting in the wrong seat. He introduced himself to me, Chris, I in turn introduced myself. He continued to ask me a handful of questions. This whole time I was thinking “is he going to be talking to me this whole time, I really don’t want too, I just want to sleep.” Right then, God told me “Christy! Don’t miss any opportunity!” I was thinking, “really…really God? How is this even going to work, I’m on a plane and I’m tired?”

I continued to speak with him about his family, his story of growing up and getting into trouble. So much so that when he was 16 he was in jail. He decided after getting out that he was going to move away from Texas to Pennsylvania and do construction work and get his life straight.   After a series of exchanged stories I shared my testimony to him. I began sharing God’s love story to him and all the while he was so engaged in what I was saying, soaking up every word. God used me to lead Chris to Christ right there on the plane. I prayed with him and after I asked him if he had a Bible. He said “no.” I started reaching down to my book bag and he said “oh man! Don’t tell me you have an extra Bible?” I didn’t but I felt the Lord telling me to give him my bible, this bible I used through college, hiking, and on mission trips. It wasn’t in the best condition, I told him it was missing pages and had lots of writing but he was thankful. He kept saying how he was so thankful that he met me and that he noticed he was in the wrong seat. He also said all he wanted to do was to go back home to Texas (he was on his way to North Carolina to probably not do the smartest things). I left him with my work number in case he ever needed help finding a church or just needed prayer.   I left not knowing if I was going to hear from him again, but I felt so blessed that the Lord gave me the boldness and words to say through it all. Praise the Lord!!!!!!

IT’S ONLY BEEN A  LITTLE OVER A WEEK… WHAT’S HAPPENING WITH CHRIS?

Every day (it’s been 8 so far) I’ve been praying for Chris hoping that the Lord continues to place people in his life to encourage him. I got a phone call last night (Wednesday, March 25 at 10pm). I had no idea who was calling me on my work cell at such a late hour, but the Lord told me to answer. I did and it was Chris! He was reading the Bible, saw some of my notes, but didn’t understand it and was asking about clarification. He also called to tell me that when he got to North Carolina he didn’t stay. He bought a plane ticket back to Texas to be with his family. As he was speaking with me he was on his way up North to work again. He told me that while he was on his flight from Harlingen to Houston, a second time, a lady sat next to him and asked him if he read the Bible. He told her he did, that he had one and proceeded to tell her about the other day on the plane with me. She responded with “the Lord is trying to get a hold of you!” They spent their time on the plane reading God’s Scripture. He then told me “Christy, I want you to know that I am seriously choosing to live my life for Christ! I’m so blessed to have met you!” I prayed with him briefly and got his contact information to check up on him in the future. Every time I think about what happened I can only think of how amazing God is and how He knew exactly what He was doing! I’m so glad I was obedient to God’s call for me to be Christ to Chris on the plane. Please continue to pray for Chris, this new brother in Christ!
