Blindsided in Ministry…

The last month or so I’ve had several students, peers, and fellow brothers and sisters in Christ ask me questions about the ministry with AIM.  Maybe they’ve been inquiring about going into missions or in Christian ministry or it was for an assignment in school.  While there were many questions that were asked I wanted to share with you a little advice I’ve learned through professors, co-workers, and personal experience.

 

If you’re in ministry I urge you to tune in…  you’ve probably heard this but sometimes we need to hear it one more time

 

It is so important to be intentional about being in God’s Word. It’s
easy to view the Bible as a textbook since as ministers/ directors/
counselors we are encouraging, studying, and teaching others in it.
It’s easy to get blindsided as we fool ourselves in thinking studying
for the next “Talk” or Sunday school function is enough for my “quiet
time” it’s not and we can’t starve ourselves of the very thing we’re
feeding others and have a passion about. Be open and ready to be taken
on a journey that is not what you anticipated. Remember, it’s difficult
to lead others where you haven’t been yourself and especially when you
haven’t critically thought or dealt with the subject yourself so while
there will be those unavoidable times be vulnerable and seek others for
guidance and accountability.
