“A mine to be quarried”~ Max Lucado
“To all God’s people who are scattered everywhere in the world…” Paul, servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ
God has been tugging on my heart to come closer to Him. To trust Him through this overwhelming busy season at AIM with deadlines, leaders, youth pastors, co-workers to interact with. It’s been difficult… remembering why I’m here at AIM- what’s my role? Why has God placed me here?
I have emphasized tasks and how I can manipulate and manage my time perfectly to get everything done… rather then emphasizing God, how He can use me, and to bring Him glory and praise!
Lets be honest now… you’ve experienced this as well.
As I’ve recognized this opportunity to grow in Christ I have decided to study through the book of James. I’m asking the Lord to open my mind and heart and to speak to me through His Word as the book of James deals with faith and trusting God even in hard times. I long for my actions to line up with my words. I recognize that the “Bible is not a newspaper to be a skimmed but rather a mine to be quarried (Lucado v).”
I am going to do my best to outline a few things each day the Lord may show me, challenge me with or the probing questions Max Lucado uses because I know God wants to speak with you too!
Scripture: James 1:1-11
Guiding questions:
How has God brought good into your life through trials?
Why does God want us to ask for his help without doubting?
How has your relationship with God changed as you have gone through trials and difficulties?
How do you usually respond to life’s difficulties?
How can I grow closer to God through trials I am facing now?
